My Background
A Longstanding Commitment to Diversity and Cultural Differences
As one of the few Asian American psychologists practicing in Los Angeles since the 1980s, I bring decades of perspective to the evolving emotional and cultural challenges faced by individuals and families.
When I began my career, few therapists shared my cultural background. Over the years, I’ve seen how deeply cultural identity, family expectations, and intergenerational experience impact emotional well-being.
I remain committed to providing care that is grounded in cultural sensitivity, insight, and deep respect for each person’s lived experience.
My Approach & Philosophy
My approach blends psychodynamic insight with cognitive and experiential methods. I believe that understanding the roots of emotional patterns—often shaped by early experiences—can create space for change, healing, and resilience.
I incorporate tools from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Psychodynamic theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and other integrative models. What matters most is meeting each client where they are—with presence, curiosity, and care.
